Since it is probably compulsory to have an about page on a blog, here it is. The Name. Ancient Greek literature is being credited with the first to observe there are only 5 conflicts a person would ever face in life. They are :Man vs. Man, Man vs. Society, Man vs. Himself, Man vs. Nature, and Man vs. The Supernatural (that which is beyond the understanding of man)
Several Philosophers, both Eastern and Western, have described at great length the similarities between these conflicts as well as how to best position yourself for success in them.
Medicine is essentially the conflicts of Man vs. Nature and Man vs. that which is beyond his understanding, with a little bit of the others appearing from time to time.
I have had the great opportunity to be a part of this conflict for more than 20 years. Working my way up from a Firefighter and First responder, through Emergency Medical technician, paramedic, teacher, and as of late, a doctor and scientist. My pilgrimage in medicine has taken me around the World, From US cities and rural areas, through Europe and Central Asia. While I admit to having seen a lot, every time I think I have seen it all, somebody has to show me just how wrong I am!
This blog represents my experiences and opinions, my lawyer friends would probably suggest I disclaim that no medical advice nor doctor-patient is established here.
It is also important to note that I have a burning hatred for people who try to change medical practice by way of blogs because it bypasses the ever important scientific principle of peer review. So, if you find something here you can use or like, I wish you all the best with it, but for all intents and purposes, it is just opinion. (even if I do occasionally actually cite something to support my point, it is certainly not a preponderance of evidence)
